Samsung patents a full-blown flagship with a rollable display; could be named Samsung Galaxy Z Slide or Samsung Z Roll

Samsung files patent for a rollable phone might launch it in 2022. Samsung is the only company successfully running not one but two device lineups (Flip and Fold) with flexible screens. And when other smartphone companies are about to launch a rollable phone, it is only logical for Samsung to try and perfect this version of flexible devices.

Samsung has been filing several patents for new ways of using flexible screen technology for its smartphones for some time now. Like a vertical rolling display phone, a double folding screen device, and showcasing the S-Foldable device with a multi-folding display last month.

According to LetsGoDigital, The new patent hints that the device will be the full-blown flagship with the dual speaker, under-display front camera with light sensor and proximity sensor, under-display fingerprint sensor, triple camera with flash heart rate sensor, and most importantly a rollable screen. The display will be able to be enlarged to approx. 30 percent, and if desired, the user can also roll out only part of the display.

Samsung has also registered two potential names for this rollable smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Z Slide, and Samsung Z Roll.

This new device with a rollable display is expected to be launch in 2022. But before that, Samsung is also going to launch two new flagships with a folding display, Samsung Fold 3 and Flip 3 in August 2021. Samsung Fold 3 is also expected to be the first-ever flexible display phone with an under-display front camera.
