Facebook today announced it will be rolling out new features for shops across all its platforms and WhatsApp will be getting the shops too, in select countries.
Facebook does not leave any chance to give its platforms the power to do everything, From payments to shopping to every copied social media feature possible. For example, Facebook and WhatsApp alone provide features of all these apps: Youtube, Snapchat, Telegram, podcasts, Duo, Clubhouse, Tiktok, Twitch, Amazon (Apparels), and even Google Pay in some countries. Just add search engines and cabs to this list and Facebook will replace your entire play store, which would have sound good if Facebook wasn't so after everyone's privacy.
Aside from Whatsapp getting the whole marketplace in the app, Instagram shops will be also getting a new feature 'visual search', which got leaked 15 days ago. Which a lot like Google lens, will help you search for a similar product by selecting an image from a gallery or clicking from the camera, or just by searching a post.
Facebook will also be rolling out AR try-on feature on the Shops, which brands can create through new API integrations with Modiface and Perfect Corp. The AR products will also be capable of being placed on ads too.
