The world-class German camera manufacturer Leica has announced its own smartphone Leitz Phone 1 in Japan. The device will be exclusively sold in Japan by Softbank in July, with reservations starting from June 18.
The device is priced a JP¥187,920 including tax. the smartphone will not only be sharing exact specs from another Japan-exclusive device Sharp's AQUOS R6 but will also be manufactured by Sharp under Leica's supervision.
Leitz Phone 1 will be coming with a 6.6-inch Pro IGZO OLED display with a 1-240 Hz refresh rate and 2730 x 1260 resolution. the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 888 with 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a 5000mAh battery.
The only difference will be the back design of the phone with the bigger camera module. But Leica is supervising the total development of the camera and UI / UX which can make the difference. In addition, Leica will also be delivering a magnetic lens cap included in the main body.
