Apple has brought the 3 biggest web browsers Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla together to create improved and universal browser extensions for Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Which will make your extensions and addons more efficient and more secure.
The teams behind these Web browsers have discussed at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), to form the WebExtensions Community Group to give developers a place to work together to make web extensions more integrated and secure.
"We aim to identify common ground, bring [browsers] into closer alignment, and chart a course for future evolution," community group members said.
This unified browser extension core has proved to be a bigger advantage for developers than its users. Extensions will be quite similar by core, which will make Developers work a little easy, and no this doesn't mean an extension will run on any web browser, there will still be differences among browsers.
