Facebook plans a pretty big update for its messenger standalone app and one in Instagram. The new update will include two new themes and some much-awaited features.
The new two themes that Facebook is adding to Messenger are Star Wars and Selena: The Series based on the Netflix original Selena: The Series. While the Star Wars theme is more Dark And Light theme-based, Selena is more based on the shades of purple to resemble the original series look. The interested users can find the new themes on chat settings.
Messenger is also getting new stickers to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. "We’ve introduced new camera stickers on Messenger and Messenger Kids celebrating the diversity and impact of Asian and Pacific Islanders (API). You can use one of four Messenger camera stickers to support and raise awareness of key issues important to the API community." Facebook said in a blog post.
This next feature "visual reply" is only for Instagram users, which let you send picture or video in the response of picture or video. In addition "visual reply" feature is only available on iOS for now, and soon on android.
Plus if you are a fan of audio messaging, you also might like to know that you will no longer have to hold the mic button for recording the audio message.
Now, you can also see your "message has been read" snippet right on the messenger home screen without opening the specific chat. The new feature is named "inbox seen states".
And the last feature in this list is more of an accessibility enhancement, which is pretty common in chat apps. The next feature is "swipe to archive", a self-explanatory feature, it allows you to add chat to the archive folder by swiping the chatbox.
