Samsung to supply the 120Hz Displays for the iPhone 13

Apple is expected to introduce the most awaited feature in iPhones, a 120Hz refresh rate display. A lot of rumors over the past few months have stated the possibility of Apple bringing a 120Hz refresh rate display on the upcoming iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The latest report by the Korean website The Elec reveals that Samsung will be the exclusive supplier of 120Hz displays for iPhone 13 Pro models. Apple has been relying on Samsung OLED panels for quite a time so this is not much of a surprise.

Samsung Display will be supplying low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED panels for the two higher-tier iPhone 13 models, the report said.

The LTPO tech is what made bringing a 120Hz refresh rate to the iPhones possible. It results in a more power-efficient backplane, which made it possible to turn on and off the individual pixels on the display and prevent the battery life from taking a big hit.
